Oh the Blood!!

1 John 1:29

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

In this battle against evil and wrong, many battles are waged by our enemy against us; one of his favourite weapons is dirt, sin dirt, evil dirt, rebellion dirt, despair dirt, depression dirt. Any kind of dirt you can imagine, he would try to use against us. Many a times we are defenseless and we need the Great One to fight the battle on our behalf. A weapon of sin dirt is used against us to smear our conscience so as to keep us from God through a wage bill of sin not paid for, to keep us from God through guilt because of such sin! The dirt of rebellion is meant to make us transgressors of His law and hence His enemies! The dirt of despair is meant to kill of our hope and faith so we can’t reach back to God. But Our God has always had the upper hand in this battle!

From the foundation of the world Christ was slain for us, to pay the debt we could not pay, to remit our sins, for our sanctification, to take away our guilt, to be our lively Hope, to restore us to a father whose love for us unequal’s nothing we could imagine. We identify with Him through water baptism in Jesus name to receive this payment made on our behalf. We are then washed from all that dirt through His blood. THE BLOOD! O THE BLOOD!

What the blood of Jesus does for us we can never fully understand in our humanity but it sure is glorious! The bliss of the thought is captured in the moment where God looks at us and sees a covering of the innocent sinless blood of Jesus Christ and that draws Him to embrace us! It’s akin to that earthly picture where a father embraces their child, all cozy and freshly wrapped in a warm clean blanket!

Our salvation…all His doing! We could never afford the price for such precious blood but He paid it for us through Love displayed and tested on a cross. Yes the old rugged cross! We are eternally indebted to Him, yet He accepts our gratitude as part payment! Selah!
